| Fall 2010 Update - Sunday, August 22, 2010
Hello Tri Deltas!
My first year as your Phoenix Valley Alumnae Chapter President was wonderful! Our monthly events, happy hours, book club, lunch bunch and more, kept us all very busy. 2010-2011 will prove to be another fun-filled and busy year and we are excited to announce some new events including a wine tasting and a family picnic!
We are thankful for all of the new and loyal active members we have had this past year and hope you will join us again for another great year!
We are always eager to see new people at our events so whether you are new to the area, have never joined the alumnae chapter or haven't been to an event in a while, we would love to see you! I really encourage you all to come check us out. We have an amazing group of women from new graduates, to retirees, to everyone in between.
The women in this group are outstanding and I am proud to call them friends. I am very grateful that I decided to take a chance and join this group when I moved to the Phoenix area 6 years ago. I hope that you will do the same. We want to see you! We are offering a new option for dues at the reduced rate of $32 for not only recent grads and snowbirds but also if you’ve never been a member of this group before. So if you have never been a member of the Phoenix Valley Alumnae Chapter before, regardless of your graduation date it’s time to see what we are all about!
Our first official event of the new year is the Membership Coffee. This will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2009 from 10am-12pm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale. We will mix and mingle, eat and socialize, and talk about all the fun and meaningful activities we have planned for the upcoming year!
We will be sending e-vites on the upcoming events, so if you have not provided us or the national office with an up to date email address please email dddcommunication@gmail.com to be added to our list.
The Phoenix Valley Alumnae Chapter is very proud of all we do. Not only do we have a great time together and have many fun social events, we also have a great philanthropic effort. For many years we have donated funds to Childrens’ Cancer charities: Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families and Steele Children’s Research Center at the University of Arizona. In addition, we support Ronald McDonald House by sponsoring one of the guest rooms and we have also established a Scholarship fund through the Tri Delta Foundation. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed as we were honored at the 2010 Tri Delta Convention! We received an honorable mention for Alumnae Chapter Philanthropy and we were ranked 5th overall in Tri Delta Foundation Donations between 2008-2010!
I sincerely mean it when I say that I hope to see you at an upcoming event. If you need anything at all, please feel free to contact me at dnariss@cox.net or 602-418-8761.

| Summer Message - Wednesday, June 16, 2010
Hello Tri Deltas!
Wow - I can't believe it is already mid June!
This is long overdue, but I wanted to send a quick message to all of you.
First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who attended our events or participated in some way this year. YOU make this chapter! I'd also like to thank all the officers for their hard work & efforts for such a great year!
From our lunch bunch to book club, happy hours, parties, meetings and philanthropy events, we had a full schedule and a great time.
While we will take a bit of a hiatus until the membership coffee in September, we do have 1 summer book club. It's Friday July 9th at Wildflower Bread Company on Indian School and 44th Street. Even if you don't read the book you are welcome to stop by to eat and/or chat. We eat dinner at 5pm and have a book discussion at 6pm. The book to be read by July 9 is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It's a great book.
We may have a Happy Hour or 2 this summer as well and we'll keep you posted on that. The last happy hour RA with proceeds to St. Jude’s included Happy Hours across the Valley and had a nice turnout at the various locations.
I did also want to update you on a few notable items.
On May 3, I had the pleasure of attending the Phoenix Panhellenic Associations year-end banquet and proudly saw our very own Suzy Burger win the PPA Woman of the Year award! Congratulations Suzy! This was a well-deserved honor for Suzy after the countless hours she has spent devoting her time to Tri Delta, PPA and numerous other charitable organizations. We are very proud of her.
The Phi Omicron alumnae may have already heard this, but I wanted to let you all know that the Tri Delta Phi Omicron Chapter was named Sorority of the Year at the Greek Awards for Northern Arizona University. Fantastic news!
The new Tri Delta Chapter at University of Oregon has a young lady from Scottsdale. Her name is Kim Owens in case anyone knows her.
Kate Steele had her baby! Kendall Meeghan arrived at 9:04am on May 19. 7.24 lbs and 19 1/2 in.
On July 30th, I will be heading to Orlando to represent our Alumnae Chapter at the Delta Delta Delta national convention. This will be my first DDD convention so I am very excited to attend! I will provide you with a recap when I return.
Lastly, I welcome any and all feedback. Ideas? Changes? Want to get more involved? Please contact me at dnariss@cox.net or 602-418-8761.
Sincerely,
Donnelly |

| Fraternity Education - Tuesday, October 07, 2008Hello! My name is Joni Saquilayan and I am your new Fraternity Education Chair. I spent the last year working for Tri Delta's Executive Office as a traveling Field Consultant. One thing I noticed during my travels was the lack of Fraternity education among many alumnae. As collegians, we knew the "ins and outs" of Tri Delta. Why let that knowledge go away? During meetings, I hope to refresh your memory as well as to convey current Fraternity initiatives and happenings in the form of fun games, quizzes, presentations, etc. In the meantime, never tell anyone you "WERE" a Tri Delta. As alumnae, we ARE Tri Deltas. Let's continue to make the Phoenix Valley alumnae chapter one of the strongest and most well-educated Tri Delta alumnae chapters!
Delta Data:
- There are over 300 active Tri Delta alumnae chapters over the world, with 5 in the state of Arizona.
- Tri Delta's Life Loyal program covers lifetime dues and benefits. The one-time or monthly installments leading to $295 is equivalent to about 8.5 years of Fraternity dues.
- -Tri Delta's inCircle online program is designed to help members maintain their "perpetual bonds of friendship." Check out www.incircle.tridelta.org for more information.

| Email is the lifeline from your officers to you… - Tuesday, October 07, 2008If you have received this newsletter by US Mail but have an email address, your officers URGE you to give us your email address. Frequently email notices are sent out with information that you will either miss entirely, or receive later than you should. Please make it easier on us to keep in touch with you—add this email address to your address list: DDDCommunication@gmail.com so that DDD mail is not diverted to your spam, bulkmail or junkmail area.

| St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital - Tuesday, October 07, 2008Are you aware that in 1999 Tri Delta formed a partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital?
As of November 2007 Tri Delta’s collegiate and alumnae members had donated more than $4.5 million to support the hospital. Many of Tri Delta’s collegiate chapters designed and executed a variety of creative fundraising campaigns including “Sincerely Yours” letter-writing campaigns, special events like pancake breakfasts and softball & golf tournaments.
In 2002, Tri Delta’s Executive Board agreed to a four-year $1 million endowment for the hospital’s Teen Room. However, Tri Delta exceeded expectations by reaching that goal in less than three years! Further, in July 2007, more than 120 collegiate women from Tri Delta chapters across the country attended the St. Jude Collegiate Leadership Seminar in Memphis, where several collegiate chapters were recognized for their outstanding support and philanthropic efforts to support St. Jude.
“I love our partnership with St. Jude because it’s one of the few charities that works directly with the people it’s trying to help,” said Sarah DiPrinzio, Tri Delta collegiate member at University of Nevada, Reno. “In my years as a Tri Delta I have often reflected on our partnership with St. Jude and been so thankful about the opportunity to support them, because I am so proud of the work they do.”
Tri Delta’s latest commitment of “$10M in 10 Years” will equip the under-construction Chili’s Care Center with 18 new inpatient suites. The suites feature adjoining parent rooms with windows into patient rooms, private baths for the patient and their family, and two flat screen TVs. Other amenities available on the floor include the hospital’s main pharmacy, two nurse stations, a family lounge, an education office, a teen room and a play area.
“Our collegiate women have demonstrated a remarkable dedication to supporting St. Jude in the fight against childhood cancer,” said Michelle Shimberg, Tri Delta’s immediate past president. “It is heartening to see our sisters unite to take our commitment to St. Jude to such an astounding level, and I am truly excited to see what is ahead for our partnership. Again and again, our young women continue to prove what great things they can do when they come together with one philanthropic purpose in mind.”
Currently, more than 90 percent of Tri Delta’s collegiate chapters are actively involved in supporting the St. Jude partnership through innovative philanthropic programming and enthusiastic fundraising efforts. In previous years, Tri Delta has been honored with the “Third Party Organization of the Year” award for its outstanding work with St. Jude and in June 2007 received the “Collegiate Organization of the Year” award at the 50th Anniversary Celebration for ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude.

| Entertainment Books - Tuesday, September 30, 2008Attention all Tri Deltas!
We are selling the 2009 Phoenix Entertainment Books and this year they are once again ONLY $25! These are the same books that cost $30 if purchased on-line! This project is headed up by Suzy Burger with the assistance of Linnea Heitzman, and is one of our Phoenix Alumnae Chapter fund-raisers. The funds raised this year will go to support the Camp Sunshine, which is a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
If you usually buy an Entertainment Book, please consider buying from the alumnae chapter this year, and solicit your friends and relatives for their orders before they commit to buy from someone else!
This year's book, as in the past, offers discounts on local restaurants (both fine dining and fast food - with many new restaurants this year!) and hotels throughout the country, as well as entrance fees to local museums, sports events, movies, car washes, and so on. If you would like to, you can check out the good deals and preview the book on the website: www.entertainment There are coupons for Safeway which will save you $20. Have you ever had a Hot Air Balloon ride? Or thought of giving one as a gift? There is a coupon for up to 6 people to have a 25% discount on a Hot Air Balloon ride – this alone is worth the $25 cost of the book It is extremely easy this year to recoup your $25 plus a whole lot more!
You may begin using the book right now, and can use it through October 31st, 2009. If you pay by check, please make your check payable to Delta Delta Delta.
It would be very helpful if you are able to sell some books at your workplace or church or other organization, and please let Jenn or Suzy know asap.
Linnea Heitzman and/or Suzy Burger will have some books at all of our fall meetings, or contact them for special pick-up or delivery. To be sure that you reserve a book, you can place your order now. Contact Jenn (LHeitzman@duffygroup.com or 480-483-1808), or Suzy (smburger1@cox.net or 602-867-4580 ). The books are selling quickly, so put your order in now and tell your friends!
